Geespace successfully launched eleven low Earth orbit satellites on February 3rd, 2024, onboard a Long March-2C rocket. This milestone marks the completion of the second orbital plane for the ambitious Geely Future Mobility Constellation, a venture that aims to redefine global satellite communication, navigation, and remote sensing.
The Geely Future Mobility Constellation is making waves as the world’s first commercial initiative to seamlessly integrate communication, navigation, and remote sensing within a single satellite network.
Building on the success of deploying the first nine satellites in June 2022, the company has now achieved the deployment of the second orbital plane, showcasing the company’s prowess in constellation-level telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C).
The team said is actively conducting satellite application testing to further enhance their capabilities.

What’s the plan
Founded in 2018, Geespace is a science and technology innovation enterprise committed to becoming a leading provider of aerospace information and communication infrastructure solutions globally.
Looking ahead, the company has ambitious plans for the Geely Future Mobility Constellation. By 2025, the company aims to establish global real-time data communication services following the full deployment of 72 satellites in the constellation’s initial phase.
Joining the ranks of global enterprises like Iridium, Globalstar, Orbcomm, OneWeb, and SpaceX, Geespace has demonstrated its ability to independently construct and manage a commercial satellite constellation.
Notably, the company also stands as the sole entity in China to accomplish extensive constellation orbital deployments, a feat achieved in 2023 with the pioneering mass production of satellite communications for the automotive sector – a world first. This came only 18 months after the start of construction of its intelligent satellite production and testing centre in Taizhou, China.
Moreover, Geespace is dedicated to the commercial upgrading of China’s satellite industry chain and promoting the commercial application of China’s space technology.
The subsequent phase will see the network expanding to 168 satellites, providing global centimeter-level high-precision positioning services. This expansion is poised to offer highly reliable and cost-effective satellite services to various sectors, including personal mobility, with a focus on autopilot, intelligent connected vehicles, consumer electronics, and beyond.

The goal of the constellation
In a nod to technological innovation, the satellites are equipped with AI remote sensing functions, offering 1-5 meter high-resolution remote sensing imaging. This technology aims to revolutionize ecological environment monitoring and provide versatile imaging solutions across diverse industries.
The Geely Future Mobility Constellation promises global satellite IoT service capabilities, rivaling the likes of Iridium Next satellites and SpaceX’s Starlink constellation, which acquired the IoT provider Swarm.
Additionally, the integration of communication, navigation, and remote sensing by Geespace is poised to deliver a range of satellite data products and services, supporting the “Belt and Road” initiative and fostering international cooperation.
